How to Use RSS for Free Targeted Website Traffic
RSS (real simple syndication) is the new rage in communication. Why? Because people are beginning to see the traffic and communication potential of using RSS to boost their business. So how can RSS help boost traffic to your website? There are two ways you can use RSS feeds to get free traffic to your website: 1. The first way includes other peoples RSS feeds to update content on your website. Google loves fresh relevant content, so if you have someone elses content on your website automitically updating for you Google will return to your webpage more often to spider your site. 2. Syndicating your RSS feed on other peoples websites. This is a great strategy for getting incoming links to your website, if done correctly. For an RSS feed, and a link within a feed to be read it must be in html format. But ost feeds are syndicated in Javascript, which most search engines can't read, and consequently can't follow a link to your website. For this technique to work the webmaster syndicating your RSS feed used to have to install a Parsing Software on their server. But recent technology has made it as simple as offering copy and paste code to those webmasters who want to syndicate your content. This is a great advantage for the webmaster and will undoubtedly get your feed syndicated on more websites. Some are conglomerate sites with thousands of journals, but the area you're searching for may have only one blog in it! This is because they separate the blogs into a million different categories, like 'love', 'lovers', 'lovable' etc. Why not have just a few main categories to choose from? ?The next problem is the content. People with 'philosophical' blogs are having personal chats with their mates about the local dance competition on Tuesday! Why not go to a chat room if you just want to talk to your friends? Blogs are supposed to be a personal viewpoint expressed to the whole Web community. Wouldn't you actually like to meet more people like yourself? How is this going to happen if you talk in strange uncommon slang and acronyms that you and your friends can only understand? Please stick to the subject at hand, and take it at least half seriously. ?Another major problem is the fact that you can find a really cool blog that sparks an interest, but then find that the writer hasn't added an entry in over a year! What's it doing on the Net? Have these people passed away? I seriously doubt it, as there are so many blogs in this 'lost' state. So where are all the thinkers out there, the people who have taken us to the next levels of spirituality and scientific exploration? I'd really like to hear what you've got to say, but all I can find are philosophical beliefs on why died pink jeans express one's true inner self. ?The issue of making comments on someone's blog is also a controversial one. Why have comments sections if you're not going to reply to people who have expressed an interest in what you've had to say? How is this community going to function if all the conversation is one-way! Come on people, wake up and smell the onions! Let's change the blogging community into the awesome structure of shared knowledge that it was intended for. So for example if your visitor uses SharpReader as their RSS reader then they would click on the Sharpreader link and this would add your feed to your visitors RSS reader. To use QuickSub on your site you will first need to download the javascript and CSS files from QuickSubs site. The file is compressed so you will need to unzip the file which will leave you with quicksub.css and quicksub.js as well as a sample html file. Upload the CSS as javascript file to your server. Now you will need to add some code into your web pages. You will need to do this for all of the pages that you wish to use QuickSub on. Please note that in these examples I have used square brackets instead of angled brackets. First you need to copy some code to call the CSS file. Add this line with your head tags.
